Adam Carr, MBA, EA – Founder / CEO As Founder and CEO, Adam oversees all leadership activities including business and daily operations of Cornbelt Financial and the management of clients. Adam ensures his staff are focused on working with individuals and small business owners providing tax preparation, investment advising, pro-active tax and financial planning, along with succession planning in both life and business. Adam and his team ensure that all Cornbelt Financial clients are not only tax compliant but tax efficient. Adam is an IRS Enrolled Agent, having also earned a MBA from Ashford University, a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Iowa State University, and is Series 65 licensed. Adam previously worked as a Senior Valuations Analyst with Great West Financial and as a Financial Analyst with ALPS Fund Services all while building a thriving business. During his spare time, Adam can be found traveling with his family, exploring the mountains in Colorado, or volunteering within his community.
Leslie Paisley, EA – Senior Accountant Leslie is an experienced Senior Accountant with over 25 years of experience in various sectors of the financial consulting industry. These areas have included business valuation, litigation consulting, corporate financial management and demand planning for national and multi-national companies. At Cornbelt Financial, Leslie specializes in assisting small business owners with tax planning and preparation, business entity selection, QuickBooks coaching, and many other aspects of managing their businesses and assets. Leslie received her MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. After having lived and worked in Los Angeles for her entire career, she moved to Colorado and began her career in tax planning and preparation, obtaining her Enrolled Agent designation in 2016. Leslie has a passion for the outdoors and enjoys adventures with her husband and friends that include skiing the Haute Route, hiking the John Muir Trail, and bikepacking the Arizona Trail
Dana Olsen – Tax Accountant Dana is an experienced Tax Accountant with a strong background in Financial Services. At Cornbelt Financial she specializes in Tax Planning and Tax Preparation for clients. Dana is certified in Gusto payroll and with her strong years of experience, she is able to provide well-rounded and valuable information to help clients achieve their goals. Dana received her B.S. in Finance from Lindenwood University and has also acquired the Series 6 and 63. She has completed the first part of the IRS Enrolled Agent. For fun, Dana loves to be outside riding her bike, rollerblading, or walking her dog Reuben
Sean McCormack - Investment Advisor Representative Sean is an experienced Investment Advisor Representative with over 12 years of experience in a variety of industries. Over the years his roles have included increasing responsibilities for Stockfuse and Deutsche Bank. Sean gained the Series 63 and Series 65 license allowing him to perform the duties of a Securities Agent & Investment Advisor Representative with work in Colorado, Iowa and New York. Sean is skilled in risk management, a variety of financial service offerings, and analytics. At Cornbelt Financial Sean is involved with client engagement, investment management, and investment strategy implementation. Sean is a licensed securities agent and investment advisor and graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics and Psychology.
Helin Gai - Investments Consultant Helin is an experienced Investment Consultant with over 12 years of experience in a variety of industries. He is experienced in quantitative analytics, macro trading, investments, big data and derivatives strategy. Helin has previously worked for Lehman Brothers, Normura Securities, SHFuse and Augur Labs. Helin graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor of Science degree with High Distinction in AB, Economics, Mathematics, and Statistics.
Paula Medella - Bookkeeper Paula has over four years of accounting industry experience. Her expertise spans budgets, compensation, benefits, payroll, cash funds, and bank reconciliations. At Cornbelt Financial Paula manages client's books, oversees monthly financials, payroll, and tracks monthly expenses/sales depending on client needs. She is versed in QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage 50, and Wave. Paula graduated from the University of San Carlos with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting Technology. She is Xero certified and currently studying for a Certified Management Accounting certification. In her free time, Paula is fond of motorcycle rides on the transcentral highway and loves going to the beach, watching horror movies, and cooking!
Alex Martinez - Admin Assistant Alex has 10+ years of professional experience, and a passion for diverse representation in all arenas. She has supported companies in Business Consulting, DEI Consulting, Academia, and Law, while simultaneously developing a thriving operatic performance career. She helps businesses enhance productivity and efficiency levels while building an enjoyable company culture. As a first-generation graduate, she aims to pave the way for underrepresented voices, both onstage and off. Alex holds degrees from the University of New Mexico College of Fine Arts, the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music, and Roosevelt University. Alex and her husband Dane, live in Brooklyn, NY with their beagle-mix, Lenni. With over 500+ Operatic stage hours, you can also find her fostering rescue pups, exploring new countries, and cherishing loved ones.
Joven Nelson – Bookkeeper Joven graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Occupational Safety. As a previous intern with Cornbelt Financial, Joven is passionate about a variety of accounting activities that include weekly payroll, data input, and tax preparation. In his free time, Joven enjoys playing sand volleyball, cooking and baking, and going on runs.
Sam Billman - Intern Sam Billman is a current senior studying accounting and finance at the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado - Boulder. As an intern with Cornbelt Financial, Sam is focusing on a variety of accounting activities that include data input, tax preparation, and tax planning. In his free time, Sam enjoys working out, fishing, and golfing.
